Description

The Ministry of Highways supports an integrated transportation system that contributes to Saskatchewans economic growth and prosperity. The Fleet Services Branch is offering apprentice mechanic opportunities in the Prince Albert area for individuals who are motivated to develop their mechanical skills while supporting highway construction and maintenance operations. Working under the direction of a Shop Manager or Supervisor, apprentices will learn from experienced Journeyperson technicians and gain handson experience servicing a wide range of equipment. Work will take place both in the shop and in the field, with some travel and occasional overnight stays required.

The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined and eager to advance their technical abilities through realworld experience. They bring a positive attitude, a willingness to learn, and the ability to work collaboratively with experienced technicians. The role is wellsuited to someone who enjoys practical problemsolving, equipment repair, and contributing to the safe operation of essential highway machinery.

Key knowledge and qualifications include holding a second, third, or fourthyear apprentice certificate in the Truck Transport, Heavy Duty, or Agricultural Technician trades. Candidates who have completed preemployment mechanical training may also be considered. A strong interest in mechanical systems, the ability to follow direction, and the readiness to support preventative maintenance and repair tasks are essential. Responsibilities may involve assisting with diagnostics, performing basic repairs, maintaining equipment, and supporting field service needs as required.
