Program Overview
The Carter House provides evidence-based, family-centered treatment for women and families affected by trauma and substance use in Saskatchewan, supporting recovery and family reunification.
We serve those who:
Must relinquish care to access treatment
Are seeking to regain custody
Are at risk of child apprehension
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and maintain medical care plans for parents and children.
Conduct physical, psychological, and psychosocial assessments.
Provide medical support, including screening, treatment, monitoring, and follow-up.
Manage medications, MARs, and Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT).
Perform and follow up on toxicology screenings.
Consult with Pediatric, Infectious Disease, and Primary Health Care providers.
Support physicians clinics and collaborate with the interdisciplinary team on care plans.
Contribute to policies and work standards.
Provide crisis intervention and health education to clients.
Coordinate with healthcare providers and community organizations.
Support clients at medical appointments.
Participate in case planning for seamless care.
Support medical triage and staff guidance.
Ensure clear communication with care teams and physicians.
Maintain nursing standards, protocols, and medical supplies.
Qualification and Skills
BSN and current registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Saskatchewan.
Experience in community, public health, pediatrics, mental health, or addictions nursing preferred.
Knowledge of harm reduction, trauma-informed care, substance use, and co-occurring mental health disorders.
Understanding of communicable diseases, addiction, trauma, and social determinants of health.
Strong interpersonal, communication, and critical thinking skills; able to work independently and in a team.
Ability to maintain confidential client records and connect with local health and social services.
Salary Range: $93,600 - $101,400
