As a Special Constable Scale Officer, you will help ensure commercial vehicle compliance with National Safety Code requirements and Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance standards through the operation of permanent Commercial Vehicle Inspection Stations. This role provides meaningful public safety work in a dynamic enforcement environment.
The ideal candidate is highly motivated, responsible, and capable of working professionally with commercial carriers, enforcement partners, and government agencies. They bring strong interpersonal and communication skills, sound judgment, and the ability to promote a cooperative work environment. They are adaptable, comfortable working shift schedules, and prepared to travel.
Key knowledge and qualifications include understanding transportation legislation, commercial vehicle standards, and safety requirements. Candidates must hold a valid Class 5 driver's license with a good rating and a valid First Aid Certificate with AED. They must be able to complete all required enforcement training, including CVSA North American Standard Inspectors certification and useofforce training to Saskatchewan Police College standards. Requirements also include passing physical and medical assessments, the Sheriff Officers Physical Abilities Test, and a psychological assessment to determine suitability for law enforcement. Responsibilities may include inspecting vehicles, verifying licensing and permits, conducting investigations, laying charges, and preparing reports.
