Description

The Ministry of Community Safety offers meaningful career opportunities that support safe and fair communities across Saskatchewan. The ministry is seeking dedicated, compassionate individuals to join the Saskatoon Correctional Centre as fulltime Nurses, contributing to a workplace focused on dignity, respect, professionalism, and highquality patient care within a correctional environment. This role provides the opportunity to work closely with a multidisciplinary team to support the health and wellbeing of incarcerated individuals.

The ideal candidate is empathetic, respectful, and committed to patient advocacy, bringing strong interpersonal and communication skills to a setting that requires sound judgment, reliability, and a collaborative approach. They demonstrate the ability to respond appropriately in medical and psychiatric emergencies, promote preventative health practices, and maintain accurate and thorough patient records. They embrace diversity and equality, contribute positively to team culture, and uphold high standards of accountability and professionalism.

Key knowledge and skills include understanding medical and psychiatric nursing theories, intervention strategies, and indicators of drug and alcohol withdrawal. Candidates must be knowledgeable about communicable diseases, public health considerations within a correctional setting, and multicultural beliefs and perspectives relevant to patient care. To qualify, applicants must be actively registered or eligible for registration with the Registered Psychiatric Nurses Association of Saskatchewan or the Saskatchewan Registered Nurses Association.
