JOB POSTING:   ASSISTANT FOREMAN / GRADER OPERATOR

The Rural Municipality of Birch Hills No. 460 is currently accepting applications for the full-time position of Assistant Foreman/Grader Operator. This is a fantastic opportunity for a motivated individual to join our public works team in a progressive and welcoming rural community.

You will be responsible for working alongside the Foreman performing the day-to-day operations of the RM's road maintenance and road construction projects, including grading/snow clearing municipal roads, equipment maintenance, culvert and signage installation, mowing ditches and other tasks as assigned, with the main task for this position being to operate a grader.

Key Responsibilities:
-Operate and maintain heavy equipment (grader, loader, backhoe, tractor, mower, gravel truck, etc.)
-Assist with supervising public works staff and coordinating municipal work crews and equipment
-Assist with scheduling, planning, and reporting on road and infrastructure maintenance
-Ensure compliance with occupational health and safety standards as well as the municipal bylaws and policies
-Maintain accurate logs

Qualifications:
-Grader operator experience required
-Previous experience in road construction or heavy equipment operation required, with municipal experience an asset
-Mechanical aptitude and equipment troubleshooting ability
-Valid Class 5 driver's license (Class 1A an asset)
-Strong leadership and communication skills
-Ability to work as a team
-Record keeping skills
-Knowledge of RM operations and rural road maintenance an asset
