The Town of Rosthern invites applications from qualified people for the position of permanent full-time Utility/Public Works Operator. Reporting to the Public Works Lead Hand, the Utility/Public Works Operator will be responsible for completing duties associated with the operation of the water and sewer systems, road networks, and other municipal operations in the Town. Rotational on-call shifts are required.
You will be responsible for:
- Performing water treatment and distribution system tasks, including monitoring, maintenance, sampling, and repairs.
- Operating heavy equipment such as graders, backhoes, trucks, and street sweepers.
- Completing general labour and maintenance on roads, sidewalks, ditches, signage, and other municipal infrastructure.
- Maintaining and repairing vehicles, equipment, shop areas, and municipal facilities.
- Supporting lagoon, well, and sewage station inspections and maintenance.
- Assisting with water meter readings, installation, and changes.
- Promoting safe work practices and following all OH&S and municipal procedures.
- Providing professional communication with supervisors, coworkers, and the public.
- Working evenings, weekends, and rotational oncall shifts, including emergency response.
- Performing other related duties as assigned.
