Grasslands News is seeking an enthusiastic, community-minded reporter to join our newsroom, with reporting roles focused on the Whitewood/Grenfell Herald Sun. This position is based in or near Whitewood, Grenfell, or surrounding communities. Hybrid and remote arrangements may be considered for the right candidate.

About the role
As a community reporter, you will cover a wide range of local news including municipal government, schools, sports, events, human-interest stories, and breaking news. You will work closely with editors and fellow reporters to produce accurate, timely, and engaging content for both print and digital platforms.

Key responsibilities
Report and write clear, accurate news stories on local issues and events
Cover municipal council meetings, boards, and community organizations
Produce sports coverage and feature stories
Conduct interviews and develop strong local sources
Take photographs and submit basic captions (training provided if needed)
Meet weekly deadlines for print and contribute to digital and social platforms
