St. Martins United Church and Grace Westminster United Church are welcoming, active congregations in Saskatoon. Because our buildings are located close to one another, we are seeking a fulltime caretaker to support the needs of both churches. This permanent, Monday - Friday role (40 hours per week) is an essential part of our ministry of hospitality. The caretaker helps ensure that both buildings and grounds are clean, safe, functional, and ready to support worship services, meetings, rentals, and community programs. The position offers a competitive salary, pension and health benefits, and a monthly cellphone and travel allowance.
Key responsibilities include:
*Cleaning & maintaining all indoor spaces, incl. washrooms, offices, meeting rooms, and sanctuaries
*Setup and takedown for worship services, funerals, weddings, meetings, rentals, and community events
*Groundskeeping duties such as mowing, weeding, seasonal yard care, clearing debris, and light snow removal to maintain safe walkways
*Performing minor repairs, routine maintenance, and basic troubleshooting while coordinating larger repairs with approved contractors
*Checking equipment, identifying issues, and reporting concerns to staff
*Monitoring supplies, organizing storage areas, and maintaining accurate inventories
*Supporting ministers, staff, visitors, tenants, and volunteers as needed
*Ensuring the building is secure, making sure doors and windows are secured, and promoting a safe, accessible environment
*Helping maintain a welcoming atmosphere that reflects the values and community life of both congregations
*3 to 5 years of experience in cleaning, maintenance, or custodial work preferred
*Ability to perform minor repairs and use basic tools safely
*Strong organizational skills, communication abilities, and attention to detail
*Capacity to work independently while collaborating with staff teams at both churches
*Physical fitness for lifting, bending, standing
