Description

The City of Moose Jaw is seeking to fill our Planner 1 position. Under the direction of the Manager of Planning and Development the Planner 1 is responsible for Development Officer duties and general community and land use planning for the City of Moose Jaw.

Some duties this position performs:
- Review and issue various types of Development Permit applications.
- Review and prepare comprehensive responses and reports for public inquiries, development proposals and applications related to land use planning.
- Assist with the preparation and presentation of technical reports.
- Review and issue new business licenses.
- Respond to public inquiries and prepare correspondence regarding the Citys land use regulations, standards and municipal processes.
- Attend and present at meetings such as; Development Appeals Board, Heritage Advisory Committee or other Committees and Council meetings.
- Assist in the preparation, presentation and maintenance of plans, policies, bylaws and regulatory proposals including the Citys Official Community Plan, Zoning Bylaw and related land use plans, bylaws.
- Research land use policies.
- Assist in enforcement of bylaws related to planning and development.
- Conduct special studies and special projects related to land use policy and land development, including data collection and analysis.
- Provide professional and technical support to the department.
- Manage upkeep of property files and all inquiries and land use applications assigned.

Qualified applicants will possess:
- Degree in Regional and Urban Planning or a directly related field.
- Eligibility for membership in the Canadian Institute of Planners and the Saskatchewan Professional Planners.
- Class 5 Saskatchewan Drivers License and personal vehicle available for work purposes.
- Strong familiarity with Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel and Power Point.
