BATC is seeking a Researcher Assistant to join our team! Under the direction of the IRS Coordinator, the Researcher Assistant will be responsible to collaborate with the Indian Residential School Search Project. The researcher assistants duties will be to assist the research team where needed, using a range of tools to acquire information to interpret data, drafting reports and fieldwork when required, as well as protecting databases and confidential information. You should be resourceful and demonstrate excellent time management, patience and meet strict deadlines.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Research Skills
-Ability to collect, organize, and analyze historical documents and oral testimonies.
-Proficiency in qualitative and quantitative research methods.
Cultural Competency
-Deep understanding of Indigenous history, traditions, protocols and knowledge of Residential School Era, Intergenerational Traumas.
-Ability to engage respectfully with Elders and community members.
Ethical & Confidential
-Knowledge of confidentiality standards and trauma-informed approaches.
-Ability to manage emotionally challenging content with professionalism.
Communication Skills
-Strong written and verbal communication for preparing reports and summaries.
-Ability to convey complex historical information clearly and accurately.

REQUIREMENTS
Business Administration Certificate or Diploma
Proven experience in a research field
Proficiency in MS Office
Strong problem-solving and organization skills
Able to work independently
Practical experience in database management
Attention to detail and exceptional written, verbal, editing and telephonic communication skills
Good communication skills oral, verbal and written
Valid drivers license and access to a reliable vehicle
