Description

THE POSITION:
Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Financial Services Controller will administer and maintain the accounting systems of the Battlefords Agency Tribal Chiefs (BATC)  within the BATC financial policy and in accordance with Canada Public Sector Accounting Standards. You will be responsible for the full cycle accounting activities, you will supervise the accounting group, as well as provide accurate and timely financial and management reports.
The Financial Controller must be able interpret financial information and will help to facilitate effective decision-making and assist in the preparation and presentation of the program and operational budgets. In addition, you will assist in the development and maintenance of accounting procedures and internal controls.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
    Planning, Organizing, Directing and Controlling the Operation of the Financial Department
    Preparing and Coordinating the Preparation of Financial Statements, Financial Summaries, and Other Management Reports for Different Levels of Management
    Supervises, assigns and monitors work of accounting officers and clerks
    Ensures proper guidance and training provided to staff
    Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:
    Professional Accounting Designation (CPA) and or Bachelor of Commerce - Accounting
    A combination of education and experience will be considered.
    A Minimum 3 years accounting experience, combined with experience in a supervisory role
    Proficiency in using computers, including QuickBooks and MS Office Suite
    Knowledge and understanding of First Nations customs, culture and history.
