Description

The Ministry of Social Services offers meaningful work supporting individuals with intellectual disabilities through the Disability Programs, Crisis and Respite Services Unit. These services promote stabilization, wellbeing, and community inclusion. Brigham Home in Moose Jaw is hiring Community Residential Workers for two term, lessthanfulltime positions to help individuals achieve the highest quality of life possible through compassionate, personcentred support.

The ministry is seeking caring, empathetic, patient, and enthusiastic candidates who are proactive, adaptable, and committed to lifelong learning. Ideal applicants demonstrate strong communication, positive role modeling, sound judgment, and the ability to build trusting relationships with individuals, families, and stakeholders. A calm, steady approach during behavioural escalations is essential, along with the ability to apply deescalation strategies, support emotional regulation, and ensure safety for all involved.

Key knowledge and qualifications include 23 years of postsecondary education in a humanservice field such as Disability Support Work, Psychology, or Social Work, or equivalent experience supporting individuals with intellectual disabilities and complex behaviours. Candidates must be comfortable providing personal care, supporting daily living activities, driving and transporting individuals, and working shifts that include days, evenings, and nights. The ability to remain nonjudgmental, supportive, and respectful of diverse needs and behaviours is essential.

Responsibilities include providing direct, holistic support; implementing individualized behaviour support strategies; assisting with lifeskills development; promoting independence; and maintaining a safe, structured environment. Thorough onboarding and safety training, including PART, are provided.
