The Ministry of Social Services offers meaningful, communityfocused work that supports strong families, economic independence, and positive outcomes for children. The ministry is seeking dynamic individuals to join its Child Protection team as Child Protection Assistant Supervisors. These roles support programs that deliver protective, preventative, and support services using the Family Centred Case Management approach and the PRIDE Model of Practice.
The ideal candidate is collaborative, confident in leading others, and committed to child safety and wellbeing. They demonstrate strong communication skills, sound judgment, and the ability to coach, mentor, and model best practices for staff. Knowledge of child maltreatment indicators, impacts of violence, social work theories, and culturally informed service delivery, especially relating to First Nations and Metis families, is essential. Candidates must be able to build effective relationships with caregivers, colleagues, community partners, and First Nations Child and Family Services agencies.
A Bachelor of Social Work or Bachelor of Indigenous Social Work from an accredited institution is required, along with several years of experience in Child Protection or Childrens Services and prior experience supervising professional staff. Strong understanding of ministry legislation, policies, and procedures is necessary. Candidates must be capable of representing their unit on committees, supporting placement decisions, and assisting with service delivery across programs.
Responsibilities include guiding and supporting staff, assisting with program implementation, liaising with community agencies, and ensuring quality, culturally informed services for children and families.
