They demonstrate strong situational awareness, good judgment, and the ability to make critical decisions in all weather scenarios affecting the travelling public. Candidates should be selfmotivated, approachable, and able to contribute positively to a diverse and inclusive team environment. Basic computer skills are required to manage email and complete timecards and expense claims.
To qualify, applicants must hold a valid Class 1A drivers licence and be prepared to provide a current drivers abstract if selected for an interview. Experience operating heavy equipment such as tandem trucks, graders, and loaders is essential, along with the ability to manage advanced hydraulic systems for plow, wing, and sander operations. Candidates must be prepared for physical labour, heavy lifting, variable hours, and highpressure situations. Recordkeeping skills are required to document equipment operation, inspections, and material usage.
Responsibilities include operating and maintaining heavy equipment for summer and winter road work, monitoring road conditions, ensuring public safety, supporting a safe work environment, and adapting to changing operational needs.
