Description

The Ministry of Highways supports a safe, efficient, and integrated transportation system that contributes to Saskatchewans economic growth and prosperity. The Fleet Services Branch is seeking two motivated individuals for apprentice mechanic opportunities at the Moose Jaw Shop. These roles offer handson experience working with a wide range of highway construction and maintenance equipment while contributing to essential provincial operations.

The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, eager to learn, and committed to developing strong technical skills under the guidance of experienced Journeyperson technicians. Candidates must be adaptable, willing to work in both shop and field settings, and prepared for travel that may include overnight stays. A strong work ethic, reliability, and the ability to work safely and collaboratively are essential.

Key qualifications include holding a second, third, or fourthyear apprentice certificate in Truck Transport, Heavy Duty, or Agricultural Technician trades. Applicants who have completed mechanical preemployment training may also be considered. The ability to follow direction, contribute to preventative maintenance routines, and assist with mechanical repairs on diverse equipment types is important for success in the role.
Responsibilities include supporting mechanical repairs, performing preventative maintenance, and assisting in both inshop and fieldbased service delivery while gaining the skills required to advance toward journeyperson certification.
