Description

The City of Swift Current is inviting applications for a permanent, full-time Line Superintendent position. Reporting to the Director of Light and Power, the Line Superintendent is responsible for the supervision and direction of the activities required for construction, operation and maintenance of the City's electrical system.  This position works closely with the Technical Superintendent and may be assigned to act on behalf of the Director of Light and Power during an absence.

Required Qualifications
- Journeyperson Powerline Technician Certificate
- Seven (7) to ten (10) years progressive experience in electrical utility distribution systems including three (3) to five (5) years in a supervisory role.
- Demonstrated experience performing in rubber glove energized work and live-line stick work on 5 kV and 25 kV systems.
- Strong understanding of electrical theory as it applies to the operation of an electrical utility.
- Knowledge of the Provincial Electrical Code and Occupational Health and Safety Regulations.
- In-depth knowledge of electric utility construction, operation and maintenance practices, including processes and methods for overhead and underground systems.
- Knowledge of street light systems, traffic control systems, metering, transformation, substations and associated switchgear.
- Proven ability to work safely, adhering to established safety protocols and procedures.
- Ability to plan, organize, direct and supervise work for staff and contractors.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, plans and technical drawings.
- Strong interpersonal skills and communication skills.
- Demonstrated leadership, coaching and conflict resolution capabilities.
- Excellent organization, prioritization and decision-making skills.
- Possess and maintain a valid Class 5 Drivers License.
- Completion of Respect Certification and a satisfactory Criminal Record Check will be required upon hire.
