Job Description:
The Assistant Director of Care (ADOC) ensures the delivery of high-quality nursing care by all nursing department staff on a 24-hour basis, while maintaining a safe and healthy environment for staff, residents, and families. Reporting to the Associate Director, Resident Care, the ADOC provides leadership, oversight, and support for the nursing team. They monitor and improve resident care, analyze quality indicators, and address challenges within the nursing department.
Education:
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing
Other Education & Training
- Practical Nursing Diploma is acceptable
- Registered Psychiatric Nursing Diploma is acceptable
Licenses:
- Must be eligible for registration with the SRNA or CLPNS.
Experience:
- A minimum of 5 years experience working in long term care is mandatory and a dedication to quality of life/care for our residents.
- Experience in administration, leading within a unionized environment, is preferred.
Competencies:
- Problem-solving skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency in the use of computers
Knowledge and Abilities:
The ideal candidate will be a proven, self-confident leader who is innovative and demonstrates strong human relation skills as well as the ability to work effectively within a team management structure. Demonstrating strong leadership and mentoring ability, as well as a commitment to excellence is necessary.
