Flying Dust First Nation is seeking a skilled and reliable Heavy Duty Mechanic to join our Operations and Maintenance division. This position is responsible for maintaining, diagnosing, and repairing heavy equipment and fleet vehicles used to support community infrastructure, public works, and essential services.
The successful candidate will contribute to safe, efficient operations while upholding Flying Dust First Nation values, policies, and safety standards.
Main Job Tasks & Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Inspect, diagnose, repair, and maintain heavy-duty equipment and fleet vehicles
Perform preventative maintenance to ensure reliability and safety
Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and pneumatic systems
Maintain service and repair records
Support seasonal operations such as snow removal and road maintenance
Follow all occupational health and safety regulations and FDFN policies
Operates all equipment safely and in accordance with all policy, procedures, by-laws , provincial guidelines, regulations and legislation and as personal licensed to operate;
Reports ay defects to machinery, property or process to Band Manager (COO);
Ensures vehicles and machinery are kept in a safe, neat and tidy order;
Work overtime as required.
Education and Experience Requirements:
Journeyperson Heavy Duty Equipment Technician (Red Seal preferred)
Minimum 35 years of related experience
Valid drivers license
Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Physically able to work in shop and outdoor environments
Willingness to work overtime or on-call as required
Ability to pass a criminal record check
