Reporting to the Chief Communications Officer, the Communications Assistant will work with the Communications team to support Cowessess First Nations messaging by handling administrative and creative tasks like drafting content (web content, social media), updating web/media/inventory lists, managing calendars, and tracking media exposure, all to ensure consistent and clear communication internally and externally.
Qualifications:
Grade 12 diploma or equivalent.
Basic to strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
Experience with graphic design or video/audio editing is an asset.
Familiarity with social media platforms and digital media.
Ability to use standard office equipment (phones, photocopiers, fax, mail equipment, etc.).
Good communication skills and the ability to work respectfully with the public, coworkers, Chief and Council, and Cowessess Citizens.
Ability to work well in a team, follow directions, and work independently when needed.
Reliable, punctual, and respectful of confidentiality.
Strong organizational and time-management skills with attention to detail.
Experience working with First Nations communities and knowledge of First Nations culture and values are assets.
Valid drivers license and access to a reliable vehicle.
Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
