Description

The Ministry of Highways offers a stable, yearround Equipment Operator role within the Creighton Section, supporting the provinces transportation network of roads, highways, and airports. They are looking for a motivated operator with a valid Class 1A license and the ability to provide a current drivers abstract if interviewed. The ideal candidate is adaptable, dependable, and committed to maintaining a safe work environment. They must be able to handle physically and mentally demanding conditions, work flexible hours, and demonstrate strong situational awareness. The role requires sound judgment in all weather conditions, the ability to remain focused during stressful situations, and a willingness to support team goals.

Key skills include operating, servicing, and maintaining heavy equipment such as tandem trucks with attachments, motor graders, and frontend loaders for yearround maintenance. Candidates must be able to operate hydraulic control systems for plow, wing, and sander functions, maintain accurate daily records, and use basic computer applications for email and time/expense submissions. Knowledge of safe work practices, winter and summer road maintenance, and equipment operation is essential.
