Saskatoon Animal Control Agency has been providing animal control services to the City of Saskatoon since 2004. In January of 2024 our role will expand to provide daily care for those animals found as strays who are held at the City Pound facility. We are seeking applications for staff to help assist us in the goal of providing care, comfort and medical treatment for the animals in our care.
This job involves general care of the dog and cats located in our adoption and the City Pound facility including, but not limited to:
*Cleaning & sanitizing kennels and reporting on any animal specific concerns *Monitoring the health, behavior and welfare of the animals in your care *Maintaining the related records, specific to each animal and your interactions with it. *Assisting with vaccinations and microchipping *Feeding and watering of the animals in your care *Socializing and interacting with the animals *Behavioral assessment pre-adoption *On-call assistance with Pound Services *Reporting to our RVT and our vet on concerns specific to animal health *Assisting with animal adoptions *Transport of animals to off-site adoption locations.
Requirement and Qualifications
*Knowledge and experience in animal care would be considered an asset; including demonstrated knowledge of animal behavior, breed identification and general knowledge of common animal diseases
*Customer service experience, displayed in your patience, professional, positive attitude, attention to detail, and adaptability.
*Must have your own vehicle & be able to provide proof of a valid drivers license.
*An understanding of our Municipal Animal Control Laws would be beneficial.
*Able to provide a clean criminal record check.
*General computer ability is required.
*You must be a self-starter capable of working with minimal supervision. However, you must also be able to work with and support the other team members in your workplace.
*You must be physically fit.
