The Ministry of Social Services is seeking Emergency Duty Workers for permanent parttime roles in Buffalo Narrows and/or Pinehouse. The ministry offers meaningful work supporting Child and Family Programs, with varied hours based on emergency callouts and the opportunity to assist families during critical situations. These positions contribute to community safety and wellbeing and support the ministrys commitment to diversity and equitable hiring. An eligibility list will also be created for future opportunities.
The ministry is looking for individuals who can provide afterhours emergency services, respond to crisis situations, and work under the direction of a Child and Family Supervisor. Candidates must be adaptable, able to travel, work flexible hours, and manage physically demanding tasks such as lifting and carrying small children. They must also be legally eligible to operate a vehicle in Saskatchewan and prepared for irregular work hours with no guaranteed minimum.
The ideal candidate brings strong knowledge of human services policies, practices, and procedures, typically gained through a diploma or degree in a Human Services field or equivalent experience in a human service setting. They should demonstrate sound judgment, the ability to assess child safety risks, and the capacity to support families in crisis. Clear communication of relevant skills and experience in the application is essential, as assessment is based on this information.
Key skills include investigating child abuse or neglect referrals, assessing safety risks, developing safety plans, transporting families, and providing emergency financial aid. The role also requires participation in a rotation for afterhours emergency response and the ability to manage sensitive situations with professionalism and care.
