Description

The Ministry of Social Services is offering dynamic and challenging term opportunities for Child Protection Workers in the Nipawin and Melfort offices. The ministry provides competitive salary, comprehensive benefits including pension, vacation and earned days off, advancement opportunities, and an inclusive work environment. These roles support the ministrys commitment to putting citizens first, improving services, valuing employees, and working collaboratively as one government. An eligibility list will also be created for future vacancies, and all qualified applicants are encouraged to apply, with priority for selfdeclared equity group members.

The ministry is seeking individuals who can deliver protective, preventative, and support services to children and families using the Family Centered Case Management Model. Candidates must be able to respond to sensitive and urgent situations, work with families in crisis, and manage complex decisions affecting child safety. They must be prepared to travel, work flexible hours including evenings and weekends, and transport children or parents as part of service delivery.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong judgment, the ability to assess family functioning, and the capacity to determine risk to childrens safety. They should be able to investigate allegations of neglect or abuse, implement intervention plans, and provide ongoing support. Knowledge of child welfare legislation, family dynamics, and culturally informed practice, including collaboration with First Nation Child and Family Service agencies, is essential. Applicants must clearly outline their relevant skills and experience in their application.
