Description

The Melfort Curling Club is seeking an Ice Technician/Maker for the 2026/27 curling season. With our current Ice Technician retiring at the end of the upcoming season, we are looking for an individual interested in joining the Club part-time this season, with the intention of continuing in the role for the full 2026/27 season.
To support a smooth transition, the preferred candidate will be available for paid part-time training during the final 48 weeks of the 2025/26 season (February/March), working alongside the current Ice Technician.

About the Club
The Melfort Curling Club operates a six-sheet facility with a season running from November to March. The Club hosts five weekly league draw times, weekly youth programming & practice ice four days per week. Most weekends are unscheduled, aside from occasional bonspiels, rentals, or special events.

Key Responsibilities
Install, maintain & remove curling ice
Flood, pebble, scrape, nip & monitor ice conditions
Maintain consistent playing conditions across all sheets
Prepare ice for leagues, youth programs, practices, events & rentals
Operate & maintain ice-making equipment
Communicate with the Club Manager & Board

Qualifications
Interest or participation in curling is a strong asset
Ice technician experience or training is an asset
Willingness to attend ice technician courses - funded by the Club
Able to work independently & perform physical tasks
Reliable, detail-oriented & comfortable with a seasonal schedule
Clean Criminal Record Check including Vulnerable Sector Check

Hours & Compensation
Day-to-day scheduling is flexible, provided all required tasks are completed to meet the curling schedule. Final ice preparation is required prior to scheduled draws. This is a contract position for the 2026/27 season, with monthly compensation of $3,000$3,500, depending on experience. Training compensation will be negotiated separately.
