Description

The Ministry of Social Services is offering term opportunities for Childrens Service Workers in the Nipawin and Melfort offices. These roles support protective, preventative, and supportive services for children and families, using the P.R.I.D.E. model and the Family Centered Case Management Model. The ministry provides meaningful, communityfocused work, an inclusive environment, and the chance to join an eligibility list for future opportunities. All qualified applicants are encouraged to apply, with priority for selfdeclared equity group members.

The ministry is seeking individuals who are committed to building strong relationships and supporting children in care and their caregivers. Candidates must be able to work collaboratively with families, foster parents, community agencies, and First Nation Child and Family Service organizations. They should be prepared to travel, work flexible hours including evenings or weekends, and transport children or parents as part of service delivery.

The ideal candidate demonstrates strong critical thinking, sound judgment, and the ability to complete risk assessments and follow established protocols. They should understand multicultural beliefs and values, particularly those of First Nations and Mtis communities, and have knowledge of poverty and systemic issues affecting families. A commitment to advocacy, removing barriers, and promoting client wellbeing is essential.

To qualify, applicants must hold a Bachelor of Social Work, Bachelor of Indigenous Social Work, a Human Service Degree with related experience, or a Social Work Certificate with related experience. A valid Saskatchewan drivers licence is required. Key responsibilities may include casework and permanency planning, developing and implementing case plans, coordinating placements, supporting longterm care planning, consulting with professionals, and completing documentation to professional standards.
