Description

The Ministry of Highways, Southern Operations is looking for a seasonal equipment operator in the Leader Section. As part of a section crew, you will operate, service, and maintain heavy equipment such as tandem trucks with hydrodrum, graders and front-end loaders, perform various highway maintenance functions in the summer months.

As a member of a team who ensures public safety, you will have the opportunity to work with new and advanced technologies and equipment. You will keep records and logs of hours of operation, repairs, and amounts of materials applied to highways, and in the absence of the supervisor you may be assigned supervisory responsibilities. You will work under extreme and changing climate conditions and must be willing to travel and work flexible hours. You must also be able and willing to work in physically demanding conditions and perform physical labour, heavy lifting, and climbing.

You will be approachable and flexible in dealing with members of the public and the work unit, self-motivated to complete tasks, adaptable to changing work situations, and must work well in an environment that recognizes, supports, respects and welcomes diversity of employees and clients.

To qualify for this position, you must hold a graduated valid class 5 driver's license.
