Job Summary:
The Health and Safety Specialist is responsible for providing support to the business to ensure a safe work environment. Supporting WCBs leaders in the application of safety processes and procedures, they are responsible for facilitating health and safety improvements, regulatory compliance and the development of safe work behaviors and competencies to ensure the elimination of all workplace injuries. They will promote and sustain a safety culture that effectively identifies and takes appropriate actions to promote wellness and to prevent all forms of workplace injury (physical and psychological).
Qualifications:
Two (2) years successful completed post-secondary education where the majority of coursework is in Occupational Health and Safety. Eligibility for certification as a Canadian Registered Safety Technician would be seen as equivalent to the educational requirement.
Plus, two (2) year of safety-related experience demonstrating:
Successfully supported leaders and/or frontline staff in the administration of a safety management system
Conducted research, gathered data and prepared detailed analysis and reports related to safety
Ability to effectively develop and deliver safety training
Involvement in programs to promote psychological safety and/or mental health including working knowledge of Psychological Health and Safety Standards
Demonstrated knowledge of relevant Saskatchewan legislation such as the OH&S Act, Human Rights and Labour Standards.
Knowledge and ability to effectively support office ergonomics including workstation set-up, common issues and solutions
