Automation Specialist

Rockford Engineering Works Ltd. is a consulting and engineered-to-order equipment manufacturer delivering heavy industrial solutions across Saskatchewan and beyond. We design, build, and support custom equipment from concept through commissioning, integrating mechanical, electrical, fluid power, and automation engineering with in-house manufacturing and field support.

The Automation Specialist supports automation design-build projects for material handling, production, and manufacturing systems. This role contributes technical expertise across assigned project scopes, supporting the design, implementation, commissioning, and optimization of automation solutions in alignment with project requirements and timelines.

Key Responsibilities

Support application reviews, project scoping, and automation design
Collaborate within cross-functional project teams
Configure and support PLCs, HMIs, motor controls, and related systems
Perform onsite and in-house troubleshooting, commissioning, and acceptance testing
Deliver assigned automation scope to quality and schedule requirements
Contribute to proposals, documentation, and post-deployment support
Coordinate with engineering, manufacturing, and field teams

Qualifications

Automation Engineer (P.Eng./EIT) or Certified Engineering Technologist, licensed or eligible in Saskatchewan
Minimum 1 year of industrial automation experience
Experience in heavy or diversified industrial environments
Ability to work at client sites, including industrial settings, for extended periods
Valid Class 5 drivers license
Ability to pass a criminal record check
