At Cornwall Alternative School Inc. (CAS) our mission is to assist students in a holistic approach to gain the confidence and educational skills to return to the mainstream school systems as a lifelong learner, by addressing various needs of the individual (Physical, Emotional, Spiritual and Intellectual).
Position Overview
Cornwall Alternative School Board of Directors is seeking a Principal/Chief Executive Officer. Reporting to the Board of Directors of Cornwall Alternative School, this role is key in leading professional as well as support staff who are dedicated to providing an alternative student-centered education to students at high risk. The focus is on advocacy and problem solving with students from diverse backgrounds attending Grades 7 to 12. CAS has a total school capacity of 60 students.
Key Responsibilities
As Principal/CEO, your role is to lead and oversee all operations and functions within the organization, including to report to the Board of Directors, setting goals with key stakeholders, fundraising, grant writing and providing the support to ensure CAS reaches its identified goals.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Master of Education is preferred. A Bachelor of Education and related work experience will be considered.
Saskatchewan Professional A Teaching Certificate.
Proven leadership skills, strong strategic and operational planning skills.
Financial management abilities.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to manage ten staff members.
Self-driven, enthusiastic, tactful and diplomatic.
Must possess a valid Saskatchewan Drivers license.
Possess a strong understanding of the needs of at-risk and vulnerable youth.
Strong interpersonal skills and a willingness to work collaboratively with community partners, the board of directors, parents and other community members.
Skilled in conflict resolution and de-escalation techniques.
Possess an understanding of the needs of Indigenous youth and fam
