Description

The Ministry of Social Services, Child & Family Programs, North Service Area, is seeking an Emergency Duty Worker/Case Assistant in Buffalo Narrows. This position offers a meaningful opportunity to support children and families using the Family Centered Case Management Model. The ministry is looking for someone who can provide both daytime and after-hours emergency services, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, while supporting Child Protection staff and contributing to safer outcomes for families.

They are seeking a candidate who can work independently, build strong and respectful relationships, and approach their work with connection and sincerity. The ideal candidate demonstrates solid judgement, strong risk assessment abilities, and an understanding of diverse cultural values, with emphasis on First Nations and Metis communities. Knowledge of poverty, systemic issues, and their impact on families is essential, along with familiarity with human service practices. Typically, these skills are gained through a diploma or degree in a human services field and experience in a human service environment. A valid drivers licence is required.

Key responsibilities include supporting Child Protection units, participating in child protection investigations, assessing child safety, documenting interviews, assisting with placement planning, coordinating services, preparing background information for case planning, transporting families, and providing emergency support. Travel, flexible hours, and the ability to lift small children are required.

All qualified candidates are encouraged to apply. Only those selected for interviews will be contacted, and an eligibility list may be created for future opportunities.
