Candidates must be inclusive, culturally responsive, and capable of building constructive relationships while maintaining professionalism. A valid Class 5 drivers licence and current First Aid/CPR/AED certification are required before training begins.

Key knowledge and skills include understanding the criminal justice system, human behaviour, legislation, and policy, along with proficiency in computer systems. Education in social sciences, law enforcement, or an equivalent combination of training and experience is typically required. Responsibilities include supervising and interacting with offenders, supporting case plans, leading daily programming, assessing risk, applying safe intervention strategies, and contributing to interdisciplinary teamwork.
