Duties and Responsibilities may include:
- Teach daily living skills (e.g., managing a home, bus or transportation training, menu planning, meal preparation, interpersonal relations and/or personal care issues).
- Support with budgeting and money management.
- Assist with connections to community professionals and resources (e.g., doctors, landlords, social workers, etc.).
- Assist to find housing (e.g., phone calls, viewing, landlords, utilities, guidance regarding choices/availability).
- Assist to manage socially appropriate behaviours.
- Promote independence.
- Maintain documentation (e.g., daily activities, attendance, progress and/or concerns, participant program files).
- Provide support to participants in the day program on-site and community-based activities, volunteer placements, transportation, and personal care as required.
- Provide an engaging, interactive, safe, and fun atmosphere for all participants.
Qualifications:
- Disability Support Worker Certificate (Rehabilitation Worker Certificate) or Life Skills Coach and/or related training and experience working with individuals of varying abilities and behaviours.
- Valid Class 5 Drivers Licence and access to a reliable vehicle.
- First Aid/CPR/AED certification.
- Additional courses such as TLR and PART would be considered an asset.
Experience:
- One-year experience in a related field.

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to be flexible and work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills. Effective time management. Creative and open-minded.
- Strong interpersonal skills and a desire to work effectively with individuals experiencing disabilities, co-workers and community partners
