Description

The Rural Municipality of Garden River #490 is currently seeking an individual for an Equipment Operator position for the 2026 season.  This is a full-time seasonal position from May to October and an on call casual position for the winter season.  Depending on weather these time frames may be extended or shortened.  Applicants must be willing to work weekdays, weekends, evenings and nights as required.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Operate and service various equipment and attachments.  Such as, but not limited to: graders, tractors, mowers, loaders and excavators;
Operate a semi-truck equipped with a belly dump or flat deck trailer;
Gravel reclamation, rock picking, installation of culverts and minor road construction;
Sign and post installation;
Complete daily log and pre-op inspections and follow safety procedures;
Good interpersonal skills and ability to establish effective working relationships with coworkers, council, administration, contractors, and ratepayers;
Other duties as assigned by the Foreman or Administrator.

The Successful Applicant Should Possess:
Valid Class 1A drivers license;
Experience in maintenance and operation of heavy equipment;
Able to read an RM map;
Applicants must have the ability to manage and organize daily duties; and work with minimal supervision as required;
Great communication and documentation skills;
