Description

The Fleet Technician bridges Fleet Services and Procurement to ensure timely, cost-effective, and strategic acquisition of parts and equipment. This role supports daily parts ordering for the Fleet Services shop, assists with stores inventory and procurement, and contributes to long-term equipment planning through the Equipment Reserve Budget.

This Position will perform the following duties:
- Order parts for Fleet Services work orders and ensure timely delivery.
- Liaise with vendors and suppliers to resolve issues and ensure service quality.
- Facilitate communication between Fleet Supervisor and Procurement Manager to ensure shared understanding of equipment needs and priorities.
- Assist with stores inventory management, including stock levels, reorder points, and vendor relations as well as work with Storekeeper to ensure that other departments are supplied as needed. This includes acting as the primary back-up to the Storekeeper in their absence.
- Track and report parts usage trends to support budget forecasting
- Act as liaison between Fleet Services and Procurement to align purchasing decisions with operational needs.
- Support the Procurement Manager as well as Fleet Supervisor in preparing and maintaining the Equipment Reserve Budget.
- Research and recommend equipment purchases based on task suitability, lifecycle cost, repair history, and resale value.

Qualified Applicants will possess:
- Minimum of 2 years experience in fleet maintenance, parts procurement, or inventory management.
- Strong understanding of vehicle and equipment systems.
- Familiarity with budgeting and lifecycle cost analysis.
- Class 5 drivers license.
- Ability to complete WHIMIS, Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG), and Forklift certifications within 6 months.
- Ability to lift 50lbs and move 100lbs using trolley.
- Thorough knowledge and understanding of the OH&S Act.
