Description

The Ministry of Community Safety oversees Saskatchewans correctional system and provides safe, secure custody for youth and adult offenders while delivering programs that reduce reoffending. Guided by a vision to improve lives and a mission focused on safe communities, facilities, and workplaces, the ministry offers a career where you can directly support meaningful change. Facility Youth Workers benefit from a supportive interdisciplinary environment, contribute to rehabilitation, and build relationships that help youth reintegrate successfully.

The ministry is seeking dedicated and resilient individuals to join Kilburn Youth Hall Centre as Facility Youth Workers. Candidates will work directly with youth offenders aged 12 to 17, ensuring safety and security while supporting accountability and positive growth. They will provide assessments, counselling, program delivery, and case management, and work with youth who may have experienced trauma, possess diverse needs, and come from varied cultural and spiritual backgrounds. The role requires interpreting legislation and policy, applying collaborative approaches, assessing risk, and using safe, appropriate intervention strategies when responding to incidents.

Strong communication skills, critical thinking, sound judgment, and the ability to stay calm during uncertainty are essential. Candidates must be inclusive, culturally responsive team players with strong organizational and timemanagement abilities. A valid Class 5 drivers licence, First Aid/CPR/AED certification, and computer proficiency are required. Competencies are typically gained through a Social Sciences degree, a Law Enforcement diploma, or a combination of education and experience. Successful applicants will complete an 11week paid Induction Training Program starting April 20, 2026.
