Description

The Ministry of Community Safety oversees Saskatchewans correctional system and is seeking applicants for the Correctional Officer Eligibility List at Regina Correctional Centre. The ministry offers meaningful work that contributes to safer communities, supports offender rehabilitation, and provides a collaborative, inclusive environment grounded in respect, integrity, excellence, and teamwork. The ministry is looking for individuals who can support positive change in adult offenders while maintaining a safe, secure facility. Candidates must demonstrate strong communication, sound judgment, critical thinking, and the ability to work collaboratively in a diverse environment. Adaptability, resilience, cultural responsiveness, and professionalism are essential.

Required knowledge includes understanding of the criminal justice system and human behaviour. Candidates need a valid Class 5 drivers licence, First Aid and CPR/AED certification, and proficiency with computer systems. Education may include a degree in Social Sciences, a Law Enforcement diploma, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. A medical evaluation is required, and successful applicants will complete an 11week paid Induction Training Program.

Responsibilities may include supervising and interacting with offenders, ensuring facility safety, supporting case plans, leading daily programming, applying legislation and policy, assessing risk, and responding to incidents using safe intervention strategies.
