Description

The Director is responsible to the Board of Directors and provides leadership in the daily operation of the childcare centre. This role ensures the delivery of high-quality, inclusive childcare programs that align with the centres philosophy and comply with all provincial legislation and licensing requirements. The Director oversees administration, finances, human resources, programming, and family engagement, while keeping the Board informed and involved in major decisions.

Key Responsibilities

Oversee day-to-day operations of the centre, ensuring safety, quality programming, and regulatory compliance

Manage administrative and financial functions, including budgeting, payroll, billing, recordkeeping, audits, and grant applications

Recruit, supervise, evaluate, and support staff, ensuring appropriate staffing levels, professional development, and compliance with employment standards

Lead the implementation of a developmentally appropriate, inclusive, play-based curriculum

Support families through effective communication, orientation, and timely resolution of concerns

Maintain strong relationships with community partners and professional organizations

Act as a liaison between staff, families, and the Board of Directors

Attend Board meetings, provide regular written reports, and support policy development

Bring major operational, financial, staffing, and policy decisions forward to the Board for review and approval
