Reporting to the Senior Manager of Operations, this position is responsible for the purchasing, warehousing, distribution, and inventory management of production consumables and non-consumables in an efficient and cost-efficient manner.
Responsibilities:
The implementation and maintenance of a comprehensive inventory management, ordering and distribution system for hog production supplies.
The cost-effective purchasing of hog production supplies including but not limited to:
-Animal Health Products and disinfectants.
-Medical supplies and equipment.
-Office and barn supplies.
-Parts, material, supplies and equipment utilized in facilities maintenance.
The timely and cost-effective distribution of barn and maintenance supplies.
The warehousing and inventory management of products purchased.
The preparation of yearly operating budgets.
Implementation/maintenance of minimum, maximum, & reorder quantities in the inventory control system
Remaining current on new and alternate products and supplies.
Creating alliances with supply companies and maintaining approved and alternate supplier lists
Ensuring that all departments have their service needs met
Managing warehouse staff
Other duties as required
Experience:
At least 3-5 years experience in the purchasing field.
Basic knowledge of hog production and its supply requirements.
Valid drivers license and ability to travel within the province.
Working knowledge of inventory management systems.
Working knowledge of warehouse management.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Strong negotiation skills.
Strong organizational skills, detail oriented.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Computer efficient in working with Microsoft Office, internet and GP2010 Inventory Control
