Job Description
Clearwater Lake Regional Park is seeking a Water Treatment Plant Operator to ensure the community receives safe, high-quality drinking water. The operator will be responsible for monitoring and operating green sand filtration and UV disinfection systems, performing routine water sampling, maintaining operational logs, and collaborating with the Park Board to ensure consistent and efficient water treatment.
Key Responsibilities
Operate and monitor green sand filtration systems
Oversee UV disinfection equipment and interpret UV intensity readings
Monitor raw water conditions and adjust filtration/disinfection processes as needed
Perform routine water sampling and quality testing
Maintain accurate operational logs and reports
Conduct preventative maintenance on equipment
Order chemicals and supplies as required
Complete all required notices and reports for the Park Board
Participate in on-call duties as required during peak season
Qualifications
Valid Class 2 Water Treatment Operator Certificate recognized by the Operator Certification Board
Understanding of iron and manganese removal processes, UV dose requirements, and multi-barrier treatment principles
Mechanical aptitude and ability to interpret lab results
Class 5 drivers licence
Ability to work shifts, weekends, and participate in on-call duties
Experience with greensand filtration, oxidation/permanganate feed, and UV disinfection systems is strongly preferred
Minimum education: Grade 12
Minimum 3 years of experience (required to obtain Class 2 certification)
