Description

The Ministry of Highways is seeking a dynamic, forward-thinking, motivated and result-oriented professional with strong geospatial intelligence, analytical, problem-solving, interpersonal and communication skills to join our GIS Services team as a Senior GIS Specialist.

Reporting to the Manager  GIS Services, the successful candidate will be responsible for:

-Champion geospatial data management and integration with business workflows, working closely with Business units to develop and implement automated procedures and applications.
-All activities related to creation, administration, support, coordination and maintenance of the geospatial database (Oracle/SQL server)
-Develop ETL procedures, evaluate database storage requirements, perform schedule maintenance, troubleshoot database issues and develop and maintain metadata for all geospatial datasets.

The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong foundation in geospatial technologies, data management, project delivery, and organizational change. You bring:

-Proven 5-10 years of geospatial experience, working across multiple platforms, administration and solutioning.
-Strong knowledge and experience of spatial and non spatial database design and management, and data governance.
-Strong knowledge and experience of Web Application development using different mapping and charting libraries.
-Minimum of 5 years of experience with development of applications and interactive dashboards using Hexagon Geospatial platforms including M.App Enterprise, GeoMedia WebMap, and ERDAS Apollo.

Typically, the knowledge and experience required for this position is obtained through: a bachelors degree in GIS, Computer Science, statistics, data science, or a related field supplemented by experience in geospatial analysis, application design and development or similar roles is an asset.
