Key Responsibilities
Advanced Diagnostics: Use advanced functions of scan tools, thermal imagers and other specialized diagnostic equipment.
System Networking: Diagnose failures in the data communications bus network (CAN-bus), anti-theft/immobilizer systems, and computerized powertrain/body and info-tainment controls.
Programming & Calibration: Perform module reprogramming and software updates as required by the manufacturer to ensure system compatibility.
Root Cause Analysis: Differentiate between mechanical, electrical, and software issues to prevent "parts-dart" repairs and repeated component failures.
Technical Mentorship: Lead and mentor junior technicians on best practices for systematic troubleshooting and specialized equipment use.
Repair Planning: Develop and implement detailed repair plans for complex driveability and emission-related problems.
Communicate effectively with tech support/engineering to achieve solutions to complex problems.
Stay up to date on relevant in-house/online and instructor led training
Requirements & Qualifications
Certification: Inter-provincial Journey Person or equivalent certification.
Experience: 5+ years of experience with at least 2 years in a dedicated diagnostic role.
Specialized Knowledge: Deep proficiency in OBD-II / Can Bus / info-tainment systems
Interpersonal Skills: Ability to translate complex technical data into clear, non-technical explanations.
