Valley Hill Youth Treatment Centre is seeking casual Youth Care Workers to support youth between the ages of 12-17 years of age who are receiving residential treatment for mental health and substance use challenges. The Casual Youth Care Worker role involves providing care, supervision, and programming in a structured, trauma-informed, and culturally respectful environment. Casual Youth Care Workers reports to the Clinical Supervisor and plays a vital role in maintaining safety, building positive relationships with youth, and supporting therapeutic goals and daily routines, group activities, and land-based or experiential programming.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide direct care and supervision in support of daily routines
Facilitate or assist with groups, cultural activities, and land-based programming
Respond appropriately to crises, incidents, or behavioural concerns
Complete documentation as required
Work collaboratively with the team, families, and communities
Uphold confidentiality, professional boundaries, and centre policies
Qualifications & Core Competencies
A certificate or diploma in Human Services including Child and Youth Care work or an equivalent combination of experience and training is preferred, but not essential.
Awareness of Indigenous culture and language is an asset.
Ability to work independently and/or on a team.
Excellent communication skills including ability to effectively communicate with youth.
Possess, or be willing to obtain, First Aid/ CPR; and
Valid driver's licence/satisfactory criminal record and child abuse registry check. (Vulnerable Sector required)
Compensation: Starting hourly wage range between $25.13-$29.13, based on relevant experience and education
