Description

The Ministry of Community Safety - Provincial Protective Services (PPS) is seeking a highly motivated, enthusiastic and self-directed individual with extensive professional knowledge of Policing/Criminal Intelligence environments for the position of Manager of Intelligence within the Security Intelligence Unit (SIU).

Reporting to the Deputy Director of the SIU, you will have shared responsibility and oversight for PPS intelligence activities, ensuring consistency with industry standards, legal requirements and best practices. Additionally, this position provides a wide range of intelligence services including: gathering, documenting, storing and disseminating information and intelligence across PPS and to other law enforcement agencies; mentoring/coaching/training PPS supervisors and staff on intelligence processes, including disclosure requests; identifying intelligence gaps and effective strategies to address such gaps; and providing recommendations for program enhancements to mitigate threats to community safety.

You will oversee the PPS confidential human source program(s), including the management of informant registries, compensation requests and rewards to ensure a standard consistent process is followed while simultaneously contributing to and providing technical expertise to the policy unit in the development of policy regarding the intelligence process and human source handling. You will develop oneself as a subject matter expert to create, coordinate and deliver human source training for PPS members and provide guidance/mentorship regarding informant handling best practices.
