Description

The Student Event Coordinator will provide organizational assistance for both festivals under the direction of the Festival Organizers. The main tasks include operations management, various administrative duties such as printing, laminating, document writing, promotional distribution, cataloging supplies, etc., volunteer recruitment, and entire festival site set-up and tear down as well as infrastructure preparations including working with a a team to erect large tents, build fences, and paint. It also includes offering kite-building workshops to young students as well as involvement in various community events. The position may also provide support in marketing and promotion of the events through social media management, website updates, press releases, etc.
Qualifications:
Experience/education in tourism, event management, hospitality, or related industries is an asset.
Excellent communication skills, including writing, proofreading skills, and speaking.
Ability to manage multiple projects and work assignments at one time and to work independently or as part of a team.
Outstanding customer service.
Must be reliable, flexible, responsible, personable, and tactful.
Must be able to do manual labour, lift up to 30 pounds, and be on your feet for long periods.
Experience using common hand tools and light equipment.
Ability to anticipate project needs and meet deadlines.
Flexibility for varied work schedule; evenings and weekend work is sometimes required.
Youth Certified or willing to become Youth Certified.
Must have a valid Class 5 drivers license and access to a vehicle.
Must be available on June 13th and June 16-25 including that weekend
