Community Legal Assistance Services for Saskatoon Inner City Inc. (CLASSIC) seeks to hire a Community Support Worker (CSW)
The Position
The successful applicant will have knowledge of the community CLASSIC works in and will provide community referral and wrap-around supports on a continuum of non-legal needs including but not limited to:
    -facing housing insecurity,
    -to navigate systems such as banking, government agencies, property managers, etc.,
    -to access translation services,
    -to complete forms for all kinds of applications including: ID, social services, rental, etc.,
    -to access mental health or counselling supports,
    -connect to other community-based organizations or government agencies.
        -in addition to attending community meetings and events

The Person
The ideal candidate will have a degree in Social Work/Humanities and will have 2+ years working experience.   Being registered or eligible for registration with SASW is an asset.  An understanding of the social context in which CLASSIC operates is essential. Other important skills and abilities include:
    -A focus on service that is anti-oppressive and anti-racist,
    -Patience and ability to connect with people,
    -Willingness to work with law and social work students,
    -Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues and clients,
    -Offering information and support to clients from various backgrounds,
    -Ability to work independently,
    -Knowledge of and understanding of any areas of law is an asset,
    -Knowledge of and sensitivity toward Indigenous laws and ways of life is an asset,
    -Computer use, and
    -Maintain records, files and prepare memorandums/notes.
