The Design Technologist will provide civil engineering expertise focused on reviewing and approving infrastructure-related submissions tied to planning and development applications. This role ensures that engineering drawings, technical reports, and modelling meet City Design Standards and Specifications for infrastructure such as wastewater, water, storm water, and transportation systems. The work involves collaboration with developers, consultants, internal City branches, and other stakeholders as required.
Some duties include:
- Lead the evaluation of engineering drawings, technical reports, and modelling
- Provide technical expertise on engineering issues
- Research, develop, recommend, coordinate and implement policies and procedures related to land development and servicing infrastructure
- Revise, update, and maintain the Citys development manuals, design standards, construction specifications, and standard drawings
- Participate in infrastructure planning to support growth and improvements
- Review, evaluate and provide recommendations on all third-party applications
- Research and prepare reports for the consideration of Administration and City Council
Qualifications:
- Engineering Degree or a related field, eligible for registration with a Provincial organization (APEGS, P.Eng, EIT) OR Diploma in Engineering Technologies, and 3 years related experience in municipal infrastructure OR Engineering Technician Certificate and 5 years related experience in municipal infrastructure
- Eligible for certification as a Certified Engineering Technologist in the Province of Saskatchewan
- Class 5 drivers license
- AutoCAD, knowledge/experience with modeling software is an asset
- Ability to organize and deliver multiple projects with varying deadlines
- Thorough knowledge of the OH&S Act and Regulations
- Ability and willingness to support a variety of different municipal tasks
