Description

Job Summary:

The cook will work at a restaurant serving Asian and Canadian dishes. The role involves in food preparation, cooking, and presentation, as well as support kitchen management, ensuring consistent dish quality, compliance with food safety standard, and maintaining cleanliness of equipment and work areas.

Duties:

- Prepare and cook a variety of dishes as outlined on the restaurants Asian-fusion and Canadian menu in keeping with the restaurants established recipes and presentation standards.

- Monitor and maintain food quality, portioning and presentation.

- Ensure all hot food orders are delivered promptly and accurately during service periods  including managing multiple orders during peak times.

- Oversee ingredient inventory and stock levels for the kitchen to ensure sufficient supplies for daily service and to minimize food waste.

- Ensure all food preparation areas and equipment meet the restaurants sanitation and safety standards to comply with health regulations.

- Collaborate with the restaurant manager/owner on menu changes and daily specials.


Job Requirements:

- 2- 3 years of experience as a cook in a commercial kitchen.
- Demonstrated skills and hands-on experience in preparing Vietnamese and Canadian cuisine; prior experience in a Vietnamese restaurant is preferred.
- Knowledge of food preparation techniques and cooking methods with safe food handling practices.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high attention to detail and quality.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively within a team, proficiency in Vietnamese is an asset.
- Familiarity with kitchen equipment and utensils.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing demands, including special menu requests or dietary modifications.
