Description

The Safety Officer is responsible for ensuring the safe and compliant operation of our trucking fleet in Regina, SK, and across our service area. This role focuses on accident prevention, regulatory compliance, driver safety performance, and fostering a strong safety culture within the company. The Safety Officer works closely with drivers, dispatch, maintenance, and management to maintain high safety standards and protect our people, equipment, and public road users

Key Responsibilities:
Develop, update, and enforce safety policies
Run the companys drug and alcohol testing program: book tests, record results, and report to management
Train drivers on safe driving, hours of service, winter driving, fatigue, and proper load securement
Review driver records (accidents, tickets, inspections, ELD data) and coach those who need improvement
Investigate accidents and near misses, write reports, and recommend actions to prevent repeat incidents
Keep accurate safety files for drivers and vehicles and track safety performance
Promote a strong safety culture through safety meetings, and recognition of safe behavior
Help prepare and practice emergency plans for incidents like rollovers, hazmat events, or medical emergencies

Qualifications and Skills:
Post secondary education in occupational health and safety, transportation, or a related field is preferred; equivalent experience will be considered
Experience in trucking, transportation, or fleet safety is an asset
Strong communication, coaching, and interpersonal skills to work effectively with drivers and office staff
Proficiency with computers, spreadsheets, and basic reporting tools
