The City Clerk is a senior statutory officer of the City of Moose Jaw responsible for ensuring the integrity, transparency, and effectiveness of municipal governance. The position provides impartial advice and professional support to City Council, Administration, and the public, while offering advisory leadership on governance procedures, legislative requirements, and best practices. The City Clerk ensures the City's compliance with provincial legislation, supports open and accountable decision making, and upholds public trust in municipal processes.
Qualifications
- Degree/Diploma in Public or Business Administration, Law or a related discipline
- Professional certification or designation with National Advanced Certificate in Local Authority Administration (NACLAA), Local Government Administration Certificate (LGA), Information Access & Protection of Privacy Certificate (IAPP), and Certified Municipal Clerk (CMC) would be considered an asset.
- 5-8 years of progressively responsible experience in municipal government
- Demonstrated experience in: Council and committee governance, Interpretation and application of municipal legislation, FOIP administration and privacy management, records and information governance.
- Working knowledge of Saskatchewan municipal legislation and regulatory frameworks.
- Experience supporting elected officials in a politically sensitive environment.
- Skills: Exceptional analytical skill for legislative interpretation, politically astute communication and a proven ability to lead teams.
