Under the general direction of the senior Repair Technician in Saskatoon and reporting to the Special Needs Equipment Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for the repair and maintenance of program equipment to ensure that it is safe for use and that it meets the quality standards set by the Special Needs Equipment program.  

Duties include:
-  Prepare manual wheelchairs for issue to clients by cleaning the equipment, changing upholstery, seat belts, tires, and bearings etc. as per requisition specifications.
-  Clean, repair, calibrate, modify, rebuild, test a variety of types of equipment (including bathtub lifts, hydraulic lifts) to prepare them for issue.
-  Repair and maintain client issued equipment to ensure it is safe for continued use.
-  Coordinate with clients the delivery of the serviced equipment and the return of current equipment.
-  Complete documentation pertaining to issued equipment (requisitions), work order forms, stock order sheets, shipping/receiving documents, etc.
-  Monitor and maintain appropriate equipment and parts inventory levels.
-  Communicate with Special Needs Equipment staff, health care professionals, clients and the general public promoting good working relationships.
-  Assisting in the daily operations of the Special Needs Equipment depot.
-  Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
Education:
-  Grade 12 or equivalent
Skills:
-  Good mechanical aptitude - knowledge of basic mechanics and experience in using a variety of hand tools
-  Strong organizational skills and the ability to work in a multitask environment
-  Good aptitude for problem solving
-  Effective interpersonal skills
-  Basic computer skills
Final Candidates are required to provide satisfactory criminal record checks including a vulnerable sector search.
